Project Summary:

The early postpartum period is characterized by short lengths of stay, high complexity, and heterogeneous care structures. Despite high rates of breastfeeding initiation, uncertainties and inconsistencies in counselling persist. This poster presents the structured implementation of an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) role to consolidate evidence-based counselling and improve consistency in care processes, along with initial signals from clinical application. The implementation, processes, and potential effects of this role in the early postpartum period require systematic investigation.

Methods:

Counselling processes in the postpartum period
Parental support needs
Breastfeeding indicators

Results:

Earlier identification of complex situations
Improved clinical orientation and increased perceived confidence
More consistent counselling in clinical practice

Conclusion:

Research Desiderata

Systematic investigation of APN-supported care under controlled conditions
Differentiated analysis of underlying mechanisms and their impact on clinical decision-making processes
Clarification of effects on informational consistency, decision quality, and patient experience
